Robert Louis Wilson, born on April 22, 1944 in Pennsylvania, passed away on October 31, 2024, in Spring Hill, FL.
Robert was a bad ass beacon of strength, aspiring to the principles of Zen Buddhism with a spirit that was unapologetically his own. He was charming and bold, funny and fun to be around. He was a completely unique mix of fiery and gentle; eager and patient.
Robert was easy to love and easy to be loved by. His marriages; to Laura in 1969 and Linda Sue in 1980, each gave him many fond memories and two of his four children.
Robert was known as an extraordinarily loving father, which he showed through kindness, understanding, and acceptance of his children. He let them be themselves but relished when he shared interests with them. He was there when they needed him. He helped them when he could. He asked them for nothing.
Robert served in the United States Army where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant and fought in the Vietnam War, earning the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart.
He was a Certified Public Accountant, running his own business for over 40 years. He made his work look easy with his sharp mind and strong work ethic. He was known for working long hours, especially in tax season, and could often be found in his office in the wee hours.
He loved to practice Tai Chi and Yoga, finding in them a source of inner peace and physical balance. He enjoyed the simple pleasure of smoking a good cigar or pipe, a hobby that allowed him moments of reflection and relaxation. He was a skilled photographer, book lover, and technophile. He loved listening to music and dancing. His memory will be carried in many songs.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. Wilson and Helen Wilson (nee Capsambelis), and his brother Evan Wilson. He is survived by his brother Richard Wilson; his children, Seth Wilson, Erica Wilson, Victoria Connors, and Nicola Willow; and his cherished grandchildren, Nya, Evie, and Kai; as well as a family of close, loving friends who will feel his loss terribly.
In lieu of a traditional funeral, a celebration of life will be held, honoring Robert's wishes. In lieu of flowers, listen to Nazareth Razamanaz.
Robert's life was a profound journey of exploration, love, and mindfulness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was Bob and he loved life.
